Harvesting Marble from a mountainous region is an orchestrated methodology. When Marble is harvested and cut in Italy, it can be likened to a music conductor leading an orchestra. In this case, an experienced supervisor directs the process after the rock is surgically sawed. Tractors push monstrous slabs onto a bed of dirt and smaller pebbles. Once the slabs rest on the ground, they are cut into dimension stone.

What is dimension stone? Dimension stone is a natural stone that is selected, trimmed, cut, into a specific size, then transported to the factory.

THE LIFESTYLE OF HARVESTED COUNTERTOPS:
The pathway of natural stone
The dimension stone is transported to the factory, and the slabs are cut into either 2 or 3- centimeters in thickness. Transport arms with suction cups take hold of the Marble slab for honing and polishing. The Marble countertops are then packaged securely in containers and shipped to the United States. On arrival, the slabs are arranged in showrooms. Most clients are unaware of the journey their countertops travel before home installation. While in a showroom, you have a wide selection of slabs to choose from. Once you have selected your Marble countertop in the background, the installer or formulator will visit and create a template either by hand or CAD design. The countertop is installed and you are good to go... or are you?

Please note, your Marble countertops are wet cleaned three times. That’s right- three:
  1. During the honing and polishing phase at the manufacturer near where the Marble is harvested- most of the time in another country.
  2. Cleaned by the fabricator shop miles away from your home.
  3. Wet cleaned after installation with a trigger sprayer and clean cloth or soiled damp cloth.
Unfortunately, the showroom employees and installers/formulators handling your specific countertop do not wash their hands during the shipping or unpacking phases, showroom staging, or before fabrication and installation in your home. Simply stated, your marble countertop may have the original microscopic soil from the area it was harvested. Sadly, the installer cannot remove embedded soil trapped in the micro-pores with a damp cloth. For this reason, having your Marble countertops and surfaces properly cleaned and sealed is of the utmost importance. 

HOW DOES STONE CARE OF ARIZONA CLEAN YOUR MARBLE COUNTERTOP?
We use the fundamentals of cleaning in accordance with industry standards. We dissolve, absorb, and suspend embedded substances on your Marble countertops. Stone Care of Arizona, LLC utilizes the most modern equipment to mitigate microbial growth. We follow the IICRC’s mandate of “Agitation, Chemical, Temperature and Time” to remove soil and reduce contamination. 
Cleaning

  1. We apply bio-degradable and non-toxic prespray on the surface of your Marble countertop.
  2. We agitate to displace the surface-active agent over the surface.
  3. We allow time for chemical reaction to clean embedded soil and oily substances on the surface of your Marble countertop.
  4. We use high flow extraction equipment that removes all contamination above and below the Marble countertop surface.
  5. We detail backsplash and around facets to ensure complete cleaning
  6. We polish your stainless-steel sink (with your permission).
  7. We use a terry cloth towel to dry off surfaces.
  8. We request your confirmation that the cleanliness meets or exceeds your expectations.
