Watch the Surface Transform

A freshly sealed stone surface looks better and lasts longer. Our application enhances the natural color and texture of your stone while creating an invisible barrier against spills, grime, and weathering. We seal travertine, marble, limestone, saltillo, flagstone, and granite across Scottsdale, Cave Creek, and the surrounding Valley. Patios and pool decks are where sealer works hardest; see how we handle patios and pavers. For countertops, RAKU Coating is the longer-term protection option.

What a Natural Stone Sealer Does, and What It Does Not

Natural stone is porous, so it absorbs liquids and stains over time. A sealer changes how fast that happens. Here is what to expect from one.

It works below the surface. A penetrating sealer soaks into the pores and acts as a barrier that keeps moisture, oils, and spills from penetrating the stone. It is not a coating that sits on top.
It keeps the natural look. Natural-look sealers leave the stone matte and unchanged. Color-enhancing sealers deepen the tone and bring out the veining, the way the stone looks when it is wet.
It wears. Traffic, cleaning, and weather thin the protection over time, and porous stones like travertine, limestone, and Saltillo wear through it sooner than dense granite does.
It is not the same as a topical coating. Waxes and topical sealers sit on the surface, where they scratch, cloud, yellow, and peel, and they have to be stripped off before the stone can be sealed properly.
It is not a substitute for the right cleaner. Sealer helps against stains and water damage, but acidic cleaners still attack calcium-based stone, so pH-neutral products matter as much as the seal.
It tells you when it is due. Drop water on the stone. If it beads, the seal is working. If it soaks in and darkens the surface, it is time.

How We Seal Natural Stone

Stone sealing in Scottsdale is quick work when the preparation is right. Your free in-home estimate tells you which of these steps your stone needs.

Assess. We identify the stone, check how it is taking water, and look for topical coatings or failed sealer that would keep a new sealer from doing its job.
Strip, if needed. Old waxes and failing topical sealers come off first with non-acidic, stone-safe strippers.
Clean. Sealer goes onto clean stone, not onto dirt or residue, so a deep clean with pH-neutral products comes before the sealer.
Choose the finish. Natural-look to keep the stone matte, or color-enhancing to deepen the tone. We help you choose for the space.
Apply an industry-grade penetrating sealer chosen for the stone and the setting: floors, showers, counters, or outdoor stone.
Confirm with the water test. Water should bead on the finished surface. That is what protected stone looks like.

Kitchen counters that see wine, citrus, and daily cooking can go a step further with RAKU coating.

Sealing Natural Stone Outside: Patios, Pool Decks, and Walkways

Outdoor stone in the Valley takes sun, sprinklers, monsoon rain, and pool chemicals all year. Sealing a stone patio is the difference between stone that ages and stone that erodes.

Sun fades unsealed stone. Flagstone and cantera lose their color to the Arizona sun, and the rich tone only shows when the stone is wet. A color-enhancing sealer keeps that look.
Water erodes it. Sprinklers, drip lines, and monsoon runoff pit and sand soft stone that has lost its sealer. Sealing helps prevent water damage and erosion.
Irrigation water stains it. Mineral-heavy water leaves marks on unsealed cantera and flagstone, and iron in the stone or the water leaves rust-colored spots.
Pool chemicals bleach it. Splash and spills bleach and erode unsealed stone around pools and spas.
Wet stone gets slick. Smooth stone around a pool is slippery when wet. Anti-slip treatment adds traction after sealing with almost no change in appearance.

We seal travertine pavers, flagstone, cantera, slate, and Saltillo outdoors with products made for exterior use.

Stone Sealing FAQs

Have questions? We’ve got answers. Learn more about our process, services, and what to expect when you work with Arizona’s leading stone and surface care experts.

Why does my stone need to be sealed?

How long does the sealant last?

Can sealing change the appearance of my stone?

What is the difference between a penetrating sealer and a topical coating?

A penetrating sealer soaks into the pores and works below the surface, so the stone keeps its natural look and feel. A topical coating sits on top of the stone, where it scratches, clouds, yellows, and eventually peels. We seal with penetrating products, and we strip topical coatings off before sealing when a floor has them.

Can stone that was sealed before be sealed again?

Yes. We test the surface with water to see how much protection is left, strip any failing topical coating, clean the stone, and apply a fresh penetrating sealer. Resealing on clean stone is what keeps the protection consistent.

Do granite and quartzite counters need to be sealed?

Most granite does, and quartzite does too even though it is less porous. The water test on the counter tells you where you stand: beading means the sealer is working, darkening means it is due. Quartz is the exception. It is a non-porous engineered surface and does not need sealing.

Does sealing make stone slippery?

Penetrating sealers work below the surface, so they do not add a slick layer on top. Smooth stone is slippery when it is wet either way, which matters around pools. Where that is a concern, anti-slip treatment adds traction with almost no change in how the stone looks.

Voices of Satisfaction

Stone Care of Arizona did an awesome job rejuvenating our travertine floors. They provided a professional estimate with many options and the crew that did the work was awesome. The floors look great and they made the grout look like new. We will use them every time in the future to keep these stone floors looking great. Thanks for the work!

Wow!  One of the best companies we have worked with.  Our limestone floors look incredible.  Showed up on time, great people, and the project turned out exceptional.  Michael the owner is first class and actually works on the job, not typical in the trades.  So not your sell it and then send an inexperienced crew to do it.  I wasn’t surprised when I went to do a review and saw they had 121 5 star Google reviews.  Also educated us on how to keep them maintained. Only one choice for our future needs, Stone Care of Arizona!
Nick Hoffman
If you are looking for a thorough, attentive, service look no further. Michael, Pravin, and the maintenance staff were punctual and their work was meticulous. This company's standards of service are very high. I hope to establish a working relationship with Michael for my future maintenance needs.

Thank you again Michael for helping us out!

We used Stone Care of AZ to clean, hone and refinish our marble tile floor, as well as paint and seal the dingy grout. They exceeded our expectations. The owner Michael was professional, responsive and extremely knowledgeable. Andre and Josh were great as well. When Andre said they wanted us to be 100% satisfied it wasn’t just lip service.  My only regret is we didn’t use them years ago. Thanks guys!

Stone Care of Arizona cleaned and applied a coating to our Saltillo tile floors. Josh and Mario did a fantastic job and were neat, courteous and professional. We had some issues with the grout (which was not included in the original scope of work) but Michael, the owner, came out two times to resolve them to our complete satisfaction -- he really went above and beyond. After 40+ years as the owner of a remodeling company, I appreciate this level of service which today is all too rare.
