Polishing removes dullness, scratches, and etching caused by daily use. The result is a gleaming, mirror-like finish that brings out the stone's natural color variation and veining, making your floors, countertops, or showers look new again. We polish marble, travertine, limestone, onyx, and granite. Kitchen and bath counters are our most common polishing work; see how we restore countertops. Once the finish is back, RAKU Coating is how countertops keep it protected.
Stone floor polishing and countertop polishing solve a specific set of problems. If yours is on this list, polishing is the fix. If it is a film on top of the stone, cleaning is.
The shine comes from the stone itself, worked with progressively finer diamond abrasives and polishing compounds. Nothing is painted on, so there is nothing to peel or strip later.
We polish marble, travertine, limestone, onyx, and granite floors, countertops, and showers across Scottsdale, Phoenix, and the surrounding Valley.
Polishing is a finish choice as much as a repair, and different rooms want different finishes.
Not sure which finish your stone had, or which you want? We sort that out during the free in-home estimate, looking at your stone in your light.

What types of stone can be polished?

We polish a wide range of natural stones including marble, travertine, limestone, and onyx. Each type is treated with a customized approach to ensure optimal results.
Will polishing remove deep scratches or damage?

Stone polishing removes light surface scratches and etching. For deeper damage, we may recommend honing prior to polishing for a smooth, uniform finish.
How often should stone surfaces be polished?

It depends on foot traffic and usage. Residential floors may only need polishing every few years, while commercial or high-use surfaces might require more frequent attention.
Is floor buffing the same as stone polishing?

It depends what is meant. If buffing means running a pad and a topical shine product over the floor, that is not what we do. Topical products cloud, scratch, and eventually have to be stripped. Stone polishing works the stone itself with diamond abrasives and polishing compounds, so the shine is the stone's own.
Do you polish countertops and shower walls, or only floors?

All three. Kitchen and bath counters get etch removal and polishing in place, shower walls and floors are cleaned of scale and soap scum before polishing, and floors are restored room by room.
Why did my polished marble go dull in spots?

Those spots are usually etching: the surface dissolved by something acidic, a lemon, a glass of wine, a bathroom spray. The etched area scatters light instead of reflecting it, so it reads dull. Honing and polishing remove the etched layer and bring the reflection back.
Can polished floors be made less slippery?

Yes. Polishing itself enhances shine without compromising traction, and where a floor needs more grip, around a pool or in a busy entry, an anti-slip treatment can be applied after polishing with little change in appearance.
