An enhancing sealer soaks into the stone instead of sitting on top of it and deepens the color the stone already has. No gloss, no plastic film, nothing to peel or yellow. Arizona sun fades outdoor stone to a chalky version of itself; enhancement brings the saturation back and seals while it's at it.
Every sealing appointment comes down to one fork. Standard sealing protects the stone and changes nothing about how it looks. Enhancement protects the same way and revives the color while it's at it. That is the whole decision, and the estimator will walk it with you on site.
Flagstone, travertine, cantera, slate, and saltillo all take enhancement well, and each fades differently in the Arizona sun. We'll tell you on site what your stone will look like enhanced.
Enhancement lands best on freshly cleaned stone. Dirt and old residue would get sealed in otherwise, so the job starts with a deep clean, and the enhancer goes on once the stone has dried out. Will my patio look glossy or plastic?
How is this different from regular sealing?
How long does it last before reapplying?
Can you enhance polished marble?
No. Enhancement is for unpolished surfaces: honed, tumbled, flamed, and textured stone. A polished surface already gets its depth and light from polishing, and an enhancer has nothing to soak into.
Does it protect against stains too?
Yes. It's a penetrating sealer doing two jobs at once: it guards against water and oil staining, and it enhances the color. You don't have to pick between protection and the look.
